POSITION PURPOSE
The Logistics Manager (Distribution Systems) is responsible for delivering world class distribution solutions in Home Depot’s evolving supply chain, with a focus on 4-walls execution capabilities that enable customer order fulfillment and store replenishment. The Logistics Manager is an advocate for the business and partners closely with IT management to inspire and support product teams consisting of product managers, designers, and developers in the creation of value-driven software solutions. He/she focuses on guiding and executing the delivery of business value to drive sales, improve efficiency, and improve customer satisfaction through the production of quality products. The Logistics Manager supports in-depth business reviews, communicating and presenting across all levels of the organization. Collaboration and partnership throughout supply chain are key elements of the role, including working with operations, engineering, transportation, inventory planning, finance, and asset protection teams to ensure the effective scoping and prioritization of feature development. Some of the Logistic Manager’s typical efforts include:
  • Managing product managers in assigned functional areas of the product application
    • Support product managers in their day to day tasks via coaching, providing domain expertise, and reviewing team performance, backlog health, etc.
    • Partner with product teams and management to drive ongoing actions for continuous improvement
    • Drive best practices in product management and balanced teams
    • Mentor and develop direct reports
  • Owning strategic product roadmap
    • Partner with stakeholders and leadership to drive alignment of prioritization based on value
    • Drive roadmap alignment across balanced teams to ensure effective planning and coordination to meet larger goals and business milestones
    • Support product managers in alignment of goals, metrics, and analytics to support measurement of product value
  • Managing product pilot support for major feature deployments and new platform implementations

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Develops solutions that leverage the Company' s volumes, systems and partnerships while providing consistently high levels of customer service in a cost-effective manner.
Identifies and prioritizes logistics needs and communicates recommendations to upper management in order to achieve efficient product distribution.
Provides data and recommendations on product tracking, route analysis, rerouting, costing and usage alternatives.
Advises IS and system users in the development and implementation of logistics systems improvements and changes.
Responds to Requests for Information (RFI) from potential software vendors.
Tests vendor software packages to identify potential shortcomings; ascertains vendors' ability to customize products to Home Depot specifications.

Reports to Sr. Manager

Typically considers new courses of action within broad policies and medium-term goals when solving problems.
Typically, once given general assignments, determines priorities and defines what should be done and how to do it.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the timeMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience:
5+ years

Physical Requirements:

Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).

Preferred Qualifications:
Integrated supply chain systems and distribution operational knowledge, preferably Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
Experience leading development teams using modern software development practices such as Agile
Experience in large-scale implementation of systems
Distribution Operations and/or Consulting experience a plus
Engineering, Logistics, Business Administration, or other technical Degree; Master’s Degree a plus
Proficient in: Microsoft Office Suite including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word and Visio

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Ability to gather, analyze, interpret and derive conclusions based on large sets of data. Advanced Excel skills are mandatory and SQL and/or Tableau experience is preferred.
Direct experience managing US drayage operations.
Experience procuring drayage rates and/or assisting with an annual bid.
Project management experience.
Strong communication and problem solving skills.
